The NINTENDO SWITCH Has Sold 4.7 Million Units Since Launch

Despite a shortage of stock, Nintendo has sold 4.7 million Switch units worldwide since its March 3, 2017 worldwide launch. Lets breakdown the data.

Nintendo has updated its investor report web page to reveal that it has sold 4.7 million Switch units from its March 3, 2017 launch and June 30, 2017.  For comparison's sake, that figure is outpacing sales for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in their first four months.  That 4.7 million figure is also just behind the pace of the company's fastest selling console, the Wii, which sold 5.84 million units in its first four months.

The gaming company has managed to achieve this feat while dealing with supply shortages as they are suffering from a lack of a key internal component.  Rumor has it the only thing holding out more Switch consoles being produced is a lack of available Toshiba Flash Memory chips, which are said to all be going to Apple at the moment.

The top selling game for the Switch is unsurprisingly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has sold 3.92 million physical and digital copies.  With new Mario and Pokemon titles in the works, the Switch just might recapture some of the video game market share for Nintendo after stumbles of the Wii U.
